1/9/2011 First Hiking Information: Resolution Loop, El Corte de Madera Creek Open Space Preserve

At 8:30 AM 01/09/2011, we shall meet at the Edgewood road in San Mateo to form carpools
and to go in together.  On highway 280 take the Edgewood road exit.  Go west until you hit the
T-section with Canada Road.  Find parking on both sides of the road.  Here is the carpool location.

If you want to go to trail head directly, here is the place that we are going to start the hike in Google map (http://maps.google.com/).  Please be there by 9:00 AM.  The place is called Skeggs Point on Route 35.

About the trail:
- The total distance is about 5.4 miles (yes, it is only 5.4 miles).
- 2.8 miles of climbing (1160 feet vertical gain), and 2.6 miles of descending (1177 feet vertical loss).
- We are going to visit a vista point (have our lunch here with great view to the ocean) and a sandstone formation.
- We are going to hike through Madera Creak trail, Resolution trail, Fir trail, and then Tafoni trail back to parking lot (see attached trail map).

So, bring your hat, lunch, water, camera, and friends.  We shall have a nice hike.

For your health and safety: If you have hiking poles, please bring it with you.
