Ÿ  Engineer, National Cash Register (NCR) Corporation, Millsboro, Delaware 1976-1978.

Ÿ  On contract to Otis Elevator Company, Hartford, Connecticut 1978-1979.

Ÿ  Member of technical staff, Communications Satellite (Comsat) Laboratories, Clarksburg, Maryland 1979-1985.

Ÿ  On contract to AT&T Bell Laboratories, Holmdel, New Jersey 1986-1987.

Ÿ  Principal engineer, principal technical advisor, senior technical follow, PRC Inc (PRC Inc was acquired by Northrop Grumman Corporation). Technical fellow, IS technologist, network engineer, Northrop Grumman Information Technology, McLean, Virginia 1987-present.

 

Contribution:

Ÿ  Treasurer, National Council of Chinese American Voters League (1983-1985).

Ÿ  Gaithersburg Chinese School soccer team coach led team’s practice after school and inter Chinese School matches (fall 1983-spring 1984).

Ÿ  CKUAA-DC board member 2005-2007, assisted on team planning and coordination on various CKUAA-DC annual activities (Chinese New Year Party, picnic, hiking) during this period, and performance on CKUAA-DC Chinese New Year Parties from 2005-2008. Helped coordinate and participated on the 2005 NCKU-North America Alumni Association Convention at Key Bridge Marriott, Arlington, VA on October 8, 2005.

 

Experience or Professional Recognition:

Ÿ  As the principal network architect on US National Weather Service’s (NWS’s) Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS) project, worked closely with NWS, designed the AWIPS terrestrial wide area network architecture and led a team on deploying the network for transport of mission critical and timeliness weather information between 140 Weather Forecast Offices and River Forecast Centers nation-wide. The network is still being used by NWS. “Letter of appreciation for Dr. Hoi Chong’s service provided to the AWIPS program” from National Weather Service (May 13, 2003).
