Prior Position: Vice President of Bechtel China, Inc., worked for Bechtel for 34 years.

Experiences and Professional Recognitions:

·         Mr. Wang has more than 38 years of broad experience in engineering and construction of major infrastructures projects, including Nuclear Power Plants, Fossil Power Plants, Industrial manufacturing facilities, high-tech semiconductor plants, and transportation related projects.

·         Mr. Wang has been heavily involved in energy industry in the United States and Asia Pacific since 1974. In addition to design and build power plants, Mr. Wang has been involved in the Independent Power Producer projects in Taiwan and China since its inception. He is not only familiar with the rules, regulations, and players, he was a key contributor in winning some of the projects, both in the development and execution phases.  In addition to Nuclear power of which he has been involved since 1974, he has also extensive experience in clean fuel power plants, including clean coal, natural gas combined cycle, and IGCC plants.

·         Mr. Wang has been working in Asia since 1990.  He was a vice president of Pacific Engineers & Constructors, a subsidiary of Bechtel, from 1990 to 2002, in charge the nuclear and fossil business lines.  He has been a vice president of Bechtel Corporation since 1995 handling power business development in Taiwan and Mainland China. Mr. Wang stationed in Hong Kong from 2002 to 2003 and has been in China since October 2003.

·         Mr. Wang received his MS degree in Engineering Mechanics from Tennessee Technological University in 1971.  He also was in the Engineering Administration MS evening program from 1976 to 1978 at George Washington University.  He received a BS degree in Architectural/Structural Engineering from Cheng Kung University in 1967 in Taiwan.  Mr. Wang is a registered Professional Engineer in the United States (Maryland, Virginia and Connecticut). He also is a registered professional Architect in Taiwan.

惜福——感恩的心

時間過得真快。成大畢業一轉眼已有42個年頭。當年的瘦竹竿號稱玉樹臨風，今天已是大腹便便的老人了。在大陸街頭，只有在年青人讓座給我或小孩叫我爺爺的時候，才警覺自己確實已過了“知天命”的階段，而是邁向“古來稀”的里程碑了（沒錯，唸工的總喜歡用這個詞）。為了想讓自己看起來年輕些，曾有“染髪”的念頭，但是馬上招來老伴的質疑：Why？還鼓勵我說白髮看來較有威嚴，所以這事也就不了了之，一切順其自然了。想想這些年來，也說不上有什麼成就，倒是內人說得貼切：“你有兩個突出，一個是肚凸，另一個是頭禿。”真是入木三分。

我想想，其他的不容我置喙，也非操之在我。既然是校友會的事，就談談在成大讀書時的一些樂事吧。記得剛到成大時，一群從臺北建中一起到台南的同學就決定在開學前先去烏山頭風景區遊玩。那時沒有什麼汽車可搭，所以大夥是騎了破腳踏車去的，這趟“鐵馬”之行，至今難忘。後來終於開學了，才知道建築系是很多人羡慕的地方。建築系館的“地利”讓人垂涎。有誰可以在女生宿舍前用測量的望遠鏡觀看目標物？建築系的另外一個特點是練就幾晚不睡覺趕圖的本事。想想那時不瘦才怪，第三餐廳300台幣一個月的伙食真正來說是營養不良的。我記得早餐是25顆花生米加一碗稀飯，居然還能有撐過熬夜的本事，也是“天將降大任於斯人也，必先苦其心志，勞其筋骨，餓其體膚……”不過我還是對外頭7元一客的客飯（有三菜一湯）念念不忘，但那只是偶爾打個牙祭。我也還記得熬夜趕圖的晚上喝碗豬肝湯真是天下大補、大快人心的事。

現在回想當時建築系設了結構組的事。當時王濟昌系主任剛從美國回來，創立了建築系中的結構組，也省了我轉系的麻煩。現在想來，我具有既是台灣高考通過的建築師，也是美國的註冊結構工程師的雙重資格。除了要感謝系主任的德政外，也是佛家朋友說的“運”吧！

回想自從1969年到美國以來，一晃40年。學業、結婚、家庭及事業的階段一切平順。雖然不能算是實現了什麼了不起的“美國夢”，但也感到我們是幸運的一代。回想起來是要惜福的，內心是充滿感恩之情的。一路走來，碰到許多良師益友，對我幫助很大。在華府的時間裏，能在世界一流的顧問公司Bechtel擔任本行的工作之外，也有幸參與了創立大華府地區成大校友會、華人活動中心、華府OCA、華府郵報等社團，結交了許多志同道合的朋友，真是人生一大快事。但我最要感謝的當然是我的內人周繼順（她曾擔任華府華語電視主播及大華府地區中文學校協會總幹事多年）。她對家庭的付出及養育了兩位優秀又美麗的女兒是我衷心感謝的。在這個獲獎的感言裏，我是要特別以感恩的心謝謝她的貢獻。由於她的努力，我才能無後顧之憂，才能更專心地從事工作，並且能為社團服務貢獻心力。

另外我認為也是上天待我不薄的是讓我有機會回到我成長的台灣工作，並為台灣的核電及清潔能源供應做了相當有意義的技術轉移及培育人才的工作。本來2年的任期延到11年，後來又到香港、上海等地擔任工作，也促成了我去年從我服務了34年的Bechtel退休後到廣東核電擔任職務。
