Cheng, Su Ming was named Chairman, CEO of the China Television Company (CTV), one of the four television networks in Taiwan, Republic of China, in June 1996. Previously, she had served since 1994 as Minister of the Culture in Taiwan, the Republic of China. After receiving a master of Communications degree from Louvain University, Belgium (1972), Ms. Cheng Began her career at the Chinese Television System as a Producer. She was promoted to several positions, including Deputy-Manager of the Programming Department (1985), Deputy-Manager of the News Department (1986), Executive Vice-President of the Chinese Television System Cultural Enterprise (1988), and Manager of the Department of Planning of the Chinese Television System (1991). She was the Secretary-General of the Television Academy of Arts & Science of the R. 0. C.(1998). In 1997, Ms. Cheng was elected a director of the International Council for the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and Acting Director of R. 0. C. Taiwan National Committee for the International Press Institute. In addition to her work in television, Ms. Cheng has been an Associate Professor at Chinese Culture University (1985) and has served as Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of China Times magazine (1979-83) and as Editorial Writer of China Times(1983). Ms. Cheng has long been a leader in cultural circles in the Republic of China. Until recently, she was a Board Member of the Cultural Promotion Association. Ms. Cheng has also served as Chairman of the National Endowment for Culture and Arts, the nation's most prestigious grant-making institution. Director of the International New Aspect Cultural and Educational Foundation, Director of the Shih Ho-cheng Folk Culture Foundation, and Auditor of the Beautiful Taiwan Foundation. In the field of theater and dance, she has been Director of the Cloud Gate Dance Foundation and President of the Chou Kai Theater Foundation. Ms. Cheng is the author of two books, Tzutsai Chi (1978) and Chrysanthemums in Full Blossom (1989). Ms. Cheng is married to Dr. Wei Duan, who serves as the Director General of the Directorate General of Budget, Accounting & Statistics, Executive Yuan, Republic of China. They live in Taipei with their 15 years old daughter Grace.
