Served as general organizer for the 40th CKU 1957 class reunion in 1997 and departmental contact person for the class reunion in 1987 成大回憶與人生經驗談 我一直以成大1957屆畢業生為榮。我們這屆不但人才濟濟，各方面有成就的班友眾多，而且很團結。十幾年來常常重聚，近來每兩年一次。今年最初在西雅圖重聚時，吳觀見在會場上宣佈今年我被北美成大校友會選為傑出校友之一。當著諸多老同學面前我頗覺得慚愧，一下子說不出話來。全班會後，我們一些礦治系的同學又到溫哥華于延祥兄處小聚，共剪西窗。談到在校時一些趣事，也都T得我們這輩人十分幸運，畢業四十幾年之後，能在太平盛世重享友情之樂。
我大半生努力的事是和人合作，我家兄弟姐妹多，父母很辛苦，一九五0年代，在公家過的是克難生活，必需合作。在成大時住校四年亦體會到同學問融洽合作的過程。到美國拿博士後，第一個工作是在聯邦礦務局，政府機關限制雖多，但也給我一個和上下及平行各層同事合作的訓練，現在想來有所成就的事都是和人合作的成果。
一九七二年我轉入科州礦業學院教書。學校除著重師生關係之外，對學術研究也很重視。我除教學及研究外，亦體會到採礦本是應用科學，能把別的領域研究成果用到採礦上也是創意，有些事會能在學校做的，只有自已另組公司從事。七十年代中期和內人賈士全共組International Engineering Technology, Inc.(IET)，和南北美及歐洲均有交往，這個其間，台灣經濟迅速發展，逐漸不重視礦業，重點放在高科技發展。反觀中國大陸，正在開發中，重視礦業基礎建設。和美國建交就通過美國政府找到我。先是學術交流，以後IET也和中國有來往。二十餘年來，我也常去中國大陸，每到內陸礦區，領會到一般人民生活之苦。這比我們克難時期為苦。近年大陸沿海經濟改善很多，但整個說來，比台灣及美國還差得很遠。
看到這一切，使我很有感受，很想為父母之邦做一點事。但個人力量有限，想到在成大的早餐數花生米，大家共用一本參考書的日子，覺得還是先幫一下大學生和研究生。一九九三年和內人創IET基金，將公司收入大半捐入。主要資助對象為在中國國人大學就讀的清寒優秀大學生及研究生。尤以主修礦業、能源交通及有關科系為主，逐年來學校及主修範圍逐漸擴大。
在中國大陸，不能在及齡上大學的青年學子很多。近一兩年我受有關學校鼓勵，又蒙賴其森兄協助，開始由IET基金會進入遠程教育工作，到在美搜集教材，在中國和教育電台、有名大學合作，準備今秋開辦。先是基礎科學，學生收視完成課業後可以取得參加大學的學分。
一九九四年我自大學退休，已經七年，自覺"退而不休"做"老學生"一直不停學新的東西。並進入以前不熟悉的領域，自覺仍在管閒事，但孜孜不已，其樂無窮。
