Alumni Chapter Region: 大紐約地區 Positions Held: Since the inception of the CKUAA of the Greater New York Area (CKUAA-GNA) in 1986, as founding president and the first Chairman of the Board, Mr. Cheng has given his active commitment and unceasing support to CKUAA-GNA. In the past few years, Mr. Cheng has been involved in the CKUAA of North America. He was the Vice President between 1996 and 1997 and is currently the Director of the Board of the National Cheng Kung University North America Foundation. Contribution: Mr. Cheng's dedication to the Alumni Association is in line with all his commitment to the overseas Chinese Community. Dedicated to serving the Chinese community of the U.S., Mr. Cheng is the founding board director of the Queens Chinese Voters Association, former president and the Chairman of the Board of the Chinese American Academic and Professional Society, former president of the International Chinese Transportation Professional Association. As an expert in urban transportation planning, Mr. Cheng has frequently been invited to provide assistance to the transportation development in Taiwan and mainland China since 1982. Experience: He is currently a principal transportation planner with the New York City Department of City Planning. He was the Deputy Director of the Transportation Division of New York City Department of City Planning between 1991 to 1996. He has authored 20 technical publications on transportation issues of Taiwan, mainland China, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the U.S., and won a Best Paper Award on "Bus Service Times and Capacities in Manhattan" from the Transportation Research Board's 1990 Annual Meeting.
