• 1994 the Piezoelectric Devices Conference, received EIA David P. Larson award for many years of dedication and engineering contribution to the Piezoelectric Devices Industry.
• 1999 Received C.B. Sawyer Memorial Award in International Frequency control symposium and European Frequency and time Forum in Besancon, France for the contributions and leadership in the development and commercialization of micro- machined quartz crystal devices.

Contribution to University, Alumni Associations, and/or Community:

• In the past several years taught graduate class, thesis review and served as an industrial advisor in the State University of California, Fullerton.
• One of the founding members of Irvine Chinese school and the South Coast Chinese Cultural Association, Orange County, California.
• Accredited with many technical publications in the Journal of IEEE, applied physics, optical, Frequency control and Piezoelectric Devices symposia. Awarded patents related to quartz resonators and sensors.
• A member of Technical program committee for IEEE Frequency control symposium.

二零零二年十一月，素菊和我回到母校参加 62 年班電機系同學畢業四十年的 Reunion 。在校園裡我們有一種特別的感觸。這裡有太多值得我們共同回憶和感激之處。我們在此奠定專業的基礎，接受了很多可貴的友誼，而它也是我們倆人愛情的發源地。 1965 年，素菊和我在成大羅雲平校長的證婚，工學院倪超院長、電機系周肇西主任、水利系林柏堅主任和很多老師及同學的祝福聲中，在台南大飯店結緍，並隨後離台到美國深造。

在 Rochester, NY, 我們建立了一個小家庭，小女兒帶給我們許多的歡樂。我很快的通過博士資格考試，專攻 Laser, Optical Electronics. 第一年暑期不但在學校上研究課，也在 Eastman Kodak 做實務工作。 1968 年我們離開 Rochester ，來到氣候温和、陽光充足的 Irvine, California 。我就職於加州大學 Irvine 分校，在此設立了 Modern Optical Lab. 繼續 Laser 及 Optical Electronics 的研究，並完成 Rochestrer 大學的博士論文。

1972 年我加入新創立的公司 Statek Corp. 該公司以新觀念及新技術設計製造新的超小型 quartz resonators and sensore 。素菊也上了加州州立大學並且找到工程師的工作。雖然生活忙碌緊張，但是我們過着很愉快的生活。在兒子 Abraham 出生後，素菊決定專心教養兒女，並旦参加些社團活動。她協助創立中文學校和南海岸中華文化協會，熱心於南加州成大校友會的活動，使我在忙碌於新創立的公司業務中、還可以有歡樂的家庭生活，加入社團和朋友一起發展有益於社會的事務。

在 Statek 三十多年的工作項目包括研發、設計、製造、市埸開拓。目前負責全公司的操作及長途公司計劃。產品早期用於手錶市埸，供應世界两大手錶公司 -- 日本的 Seiko 及瑞士的 ASDAG ，目前已能够向世界各地的公司做技術供售，產品應用也更趨廣泛，包括 medical devices, pagers, cellular telephone, military and space, etc. 在不同研究發展過程中，得以認識來自世界各地的學者專家，並榮獲表彰，我在工業界的貢献因此得到肯定。

我要感謝上帝對我的慈愛及照顧，在過去四十年有一個美滿的家庭，包括賢妻、女兒 Sarah 、兒子 Abraham 、两個孫兒女 Jacob and Christina ，以及 女婿 Geporge 和媳婦 Visal 。

最後我要感謝校友會的提名，獲得此項榮譽，個人深感榮幸。
