2004-2005, Elected Chairman of the Montgomery County Public Library Board
• served as the liaison between the public library system and library users
• advised the County Executive and the Director of public library system on issues related to county public libraries
• met with members of the County Council on the annual budget for the county public libraries during budget formulation
Contributions to the Montgomery County Public Library System
From 2000 to 2006, County Council approved the County Executive’s moderate increase in the annual public library system budget request
Those budget increases were evident in the Bethesda library renovation, new buildings for the Germantown library and the regional Rockville library
Increased Chinese language books in the library system for the book clubs
Improved library service and extended service hours in many of the public libraries
